How To Use Vehicle Wraps to Get Your Bar Noticed

A challenge all bar owners face is getting their bar noticed. While it would be nice to rely only on your location to drive customer traffic, sometimes this is not enough. You are competing with the other businesses in your center or on your street to get attention. How can you get noticed through all the clutter?

One way that many businesses are using to get noticed is through vehicle wraps, also known as car wraps.

Vehicle wrapping is one of the most cost effective advertising mediums bar owners can employ. The cost per impression for a vehicle wrap is significantly lower than advertising on billboards and is a medium that stands out through much of the advertising noise.

Background on Vehicle Wraps

Vehicle wrapping is the application of an advertising message of both text and images on your car or truck. The process involves a graphic designer putting together an advertising message with your input and then having the message printed out on high quality vinyl.

The vinyl is then applied, or wrapped, on your vehicle, and depending on the quality of the vinyl and installation, will last between 4-7 years. Depending on how long you keep your vehicle, you can have a professionally designed billboard for up to 7 years.

Costs for vehicle wraps vary. As with all things, better quality costs more than lower quality. To insure that your wrap does not fade or get damaged easily, you want to use high quality vinyl and have professionals install the wrap.

The cost to have a vehicle wrap designed and installed range from $2000 to $5000 depending on the size of the vehicle to be wrapped. A typical passenger vehicle with quality vinyl and professional installation runs about $4000.

With a vehicle wrap, design is the key. You want to avoid a "busy" look and have your bar name and tagline easy to see.

Avoid having your local sign shop handle the vehicle wrap. They essentially subcontract out all the work. You should seek out a company that specializes in vehicle wraps. Search for the term "vehicle wraps" on Google. Among these you'll find www.signzoo.com and www.adsonwheels.com

How Bars Can Use Vehicle Wraps to Drive Customer Traffic

A vehicle wrap serves as a billboard for your bar. You can park your wrapped vehicle in the front of your parking lot or by the street so that it is in a prominent position to be seen.

Just about every bar owner would love to have an additional sign promoting their business in front of their location. A wrapped vehicle does just that. It gets your bar noticed.

Before you move forward with a vehicle wrap, check your lease agreement for your location to see if your center has any restrictions on parking your wrapped vehicle. You should also check to see if there are any local laws against parking a wrapped vehicle at the front of your parking lot next to the street.

Bar owners also have the advantage of a portable billboard. As you drive your wrapped vehicle in areas around your bar, you are exposing your business to potential customers who are in your target market within a 3-5 mile radius of your bar.

In addition, if you sponsor or attend any events, such as sporting events or fairs, you can gain exposure to your bar by passing out free hotdogs (and flyers promotion your bar) from the back of your wrapped vehicle.

You can also be one of the sponsors of a parade in your town and have your wrapped vehicle be included in the parade towing a float. This is additional positive exposure you would not have gotten otherwise without a wrapped vehicle.

Most importantly, wrapping a vehicle in advertising is one of the least expensive ways to create a billboard promoting your business. It is a low cost-high impact advertising medium.

Why You Should Consider Vehicle Wraps

  • For a cost of $4000 to have the wrap designed and installed, and assuming you keep the vehicle for 4 years, the cost per month for this billboard is $83 a month, or $2.75 a day.

  • In comparison, a billboard will cost you anywhere from $700 to $2800 a month.

  • Is very targeted advertising - it reaches potential customers who live or work nearby or travel by your bar.

  • Many vehicle wrap companies have financing available, with monthly payments starting around $90/month.

  • Gives added visibility for your bar at low cost.

  • Gives your bar a professional image.

  • Reinforces your branding.

Vehicle wrapping is a low cost, high impact form of advertising. You should strongly consider wrapping a vehicle to promote your bar. Look at the value you receive for your investment instead of the upfront cost.

The amount of exposure you get for the cost makes this an excellent investment for bar owners.
